Lamar Celebrates 2,300+ Grandparents on Digital Billboards Nationwide

Grandparents’ Day honors the vital role grandparents play and the connections between the generations. This year, Lamar wanted to celebrate the day by offering families the opportunity to show their love and respect for grandma and grandpa in a unique and memorable way - by featuring them on a digital billboard.

For nearly two weeks leading up to Grandparents’ Day on September 13th, families visited a dedicated campaign website - LamarGrandparentsDay.com – where they were prompted to upload photos and messages to be displayed on a billboard located in a region of their choosing. Each submitter received an email with a virtual mock-up of their billboard and a map of nearby billboard locations where they could see their tribute.

In all, Lamar displayed more than 2,300 grandparents on digital billboards located across 140 markets nationwide between September 9-16. Lamar further amplified the campaign by sharing images on its social media channels, generating thousands of impressions. An accompanying media relations effort ultimately produced earned coverage in more than 170 press outlets, including profiles of the campaign on local broadcast news programs in markets where submission activity was most active.

With thousands of participants across the country, the Lamar Grandparents’ Day community engagement campaign yet again demonstrated the power of billboards to connect communities and families and to share meaningful moments.
